Direct Studio is available as a Chrome Extension, macOS app, and Windows app. Each application follows strict privacy practices and only collects data during active recording sessions.

Chrome Extension

Our Chrome extension records browser tabs with optional microphone audio for creating tutorials and demos. The extension remains completely dormant when not recording.

• •Browser Tab Video: Records the visible content of the active browser tab you choose to record
• •Microphone Audio: Optional recording of your voice narration (only when enabled by you)
• •Cursor Data: Mouse position coordinates, click events, and cursor types are collected and uploaded via HTTPS to Direct Studio servers for synchronized playback analysis
• •Local Storage: All video recordings are saved to your Downloads folder on your computer
• •No Page Content Collection: We do not collect form inputs, passwords, cookies, browsing history, or any personal data from web pages
• •No Analytics on Content: Analytics are collected only on the extension UI, never on injected webpage content
• •Inactive When Not Recording: The extension does not collect any data unless you actively start a recording

macOS & Windows Apps

Our desktop applications provide powerful screen recording capabilities with local-first processing. You have full control over what gets recorded and uploaded.

• •Screen Recording: Capture full screen, specific windows, or custom regions
• •Audio Recording: Optional microphone and system audio recording (when enabled)
• •Cursor Tracking: Mouse position and click event data for enhanced playback
• •Local Processing: All recording and editing happens locally on your device
• •Local Storage: Recordings are saved to your chosen local folder by default
• •Optional Cloud Upload: You choose when and what to upload to Direct Studio cloud storage
• •No Background Collection: Apps do not collect data when not actively recording
